Nebraska School Activities Association Student Advisory Committee
Two-year committee appointment serves as a liaison between students, administrators, the NSAA Staff and Board of Directors. The Student Advisory Committee helps to promote the mission of the NSAA, including leadership, sportsmanship and integrity.
Nebraska Special Olympics Youth Activation Committee
The Youth Activation Committee is a group of youth leaders across the state, middle to high school ages, advocating for respect and inclusion in their communities and schools. This is accomplished through clubs, activities, and unified sports for individuals both with and without intellectual disabilities.

National High School Journalism Convention - Nov 21 - 25
A semiannual gathering of high school journalists and advisers co-sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association.
The convention offers hundreds of practical and professional learning sessions, from high-profile keynotes to specific, problem-solving breakouts, hands-on workshops and on-site writing contests.
Sports Writing Contest
NATURE OF THE CONTEST
Entrants listen to a 30 minute presentation that will be the subject of a sports article. After a 15-minute question-and-answer period, entrants are required to write a sports story based on the topic presented.
WHAT THE JUDGES WILL LOOK FOR
Attention-grabbing lead; if story is a feature, the lead should be a feature lead; good story flow with effective transitions; colorful details; evokes emotional impact; use of informative direct quotes; accuracy; completeness; elimination of extraneous material; elimination of libelous statements and knowledge of AP style rules; few convention errors.
